Old gold in, new piece out.
One sale, one receipt.
Customers trade their old gold against a new piece on the same sales screen. Mayam prices it at today’s trade-in rate, takes it off what they pay, and prints the invoice, the trade-in voucher and the tags together.
- Trade-in rate
- Same sale
- Cash back handled
- Offcuts at cut rate
- Self-billed e-invoice
The trade-in happens inside the sale.
- 1
Scan the new piece
The sale builds as usual: weight, purity, today’s rate and the workmanship for the customer’s tier.
- 2
Weigh the old gold
Open the Trade-in card, add each piece by purity and weight. It is priced at today’s trade-in rate.
- 3
Pay the difference
The trade-in comes off the total. The customer pays only what is left, by cash, card, QR or transfer.
- 4
Everything prints
The A5 invoice, the trade-in voucher and a tag for each piece taken in, one after another.
No second screen, no sums on a calculator.
The trade-in sits on the sales page itself, so the counter never switches screens and the customer sees one clear amount to pay.
- Trade-in rate per purity, locked each morning with the others
- Better than the walk-in buyback rate, because the sale carries its own margin
- Reports, Bukku and the e-invoice still read the full sale
- Each piece taken in joins your stock, tagged and traceable
The trade-ins that trip up a calculator.
- The old gold is worth more than the new piece
- The sale is paid off and the difference goes back to the customer in cash, less your shop’s charge (5% by default, or none). The payout is rounded to whole ringgit.
- The bracelet is too long
- Cut it to size at the counter. If the customer sells the offcut back, it is priced at your cut rate and taken off the same sale.
- A customer only wants to sell
- That is a buyback, not a trade-in. It uses the buyback rate and pays out from its own screen.
- Mixed purities in one trade-in
- 916 and 999 pieces sit on separate lines, each at its own trade-in rate.
Trade-in questions,
answered.
What gold shop owners ask us about trade-ins in Mayam.
Both are locked each morning per purity. The trade-in rate applies only when the gold is handed over against a purchase, and is usually higher, because the sale it pays for carries its own margin. A walk-in seller gets the buyback rate.
Yes. The sale is fully paid and the customer receives the difference in cash. Your shop can keep a charge on that cash, 5% by default, which you can change or turn off.
The sale’s e-invoice carries the full sale, and the trade-in gets its own self-billed e-invoice, as LHDN expects for gold bought from the public. Mayam sends both.
Yes. The trade-in voucher prints with the invoice, listing each piece, its purity, weight and rate.
Each piece becomes a stock item in your buyback tray. From there you resell it as emas lama or send it to the scrap pool, the same as any buyback.
